Music Mary

Today Music Mary came to visit Room 6.  She taught us about 'beat' and how to count the beat.  We got to play with her instruments and looked at how we can make loud and soft sounds. Mary is going to come and do music with room 6 every Thursday! We are very lucky to have her.

Balloon Blow Up

1. Stretch open the neck of the balloon and spoon in 2 Tablespoons
of baking soda.

2. Use a funnel to pour in 1/4 cup of vinegar into the bottle.

3. Carefully secure the mouth of the balloon over the top of the bottle.

4. Shake the baking soda into the bottle and swirl it around.

Weird And Wacky Science

In Room 6 we have been doing science experiments and then writing about them during writing time.  Check out some of the experiments and have a go at home - they are lots of FUN!!  Come in and read our stories to find out what we thought of them.

POPCORN

In room 6 today we made popcorn during writing time.  We are learning to write 'recounts' about an experience we have had.  The class enjoyed watching the popcorn come out of the popcorn maker.  We talked about how it looked, smelt, tasted etc. We put our describing words onto a brainstorm and then we wrote our own stories describing our experience.

The Funky Monkeys

Today the Funky Monkeys came to visit St Albans school.  It was fantastic! we got to sing and dance and have a real good time.  TVNZ came and filmed us, maybe we will be on T.V? Here is a wee video of one of the songs we got to dance to, Room 6's favourite part was the BUBBLES!!!

Developmental

On fridays we have 'Developmental' time where we get to interact with the other children in the junior school.  There is lots of cool stuff to do like: dress ups, cars and trucks, blocks, construction, water play, jump jam, drawing, make and do's, painting etc. It's lots of fun! 

Going to the Library

Today we went to the library for the first time.  Room 17 - our buddy class came with us to help us choose our books.  They read us stories and taught us about the rules in the library.  We were very excited to get to take a book home for the weekend!

Today we got to meet our buddy class.  Miss Scadden and Ms Ashby buddied us up with a big kid from Room 17, we showed our buddy around our classroom and then they took us over to their classroom to see  what a Year 3 class looks like.  We thought it was pretty cool that they had deck chairs in their reading corner!!
